Pricing

The price quoted on DJ entertainment depends on many variables.  Once we quote you a price, we will stand by it and there will be no hidden fees, taxes or unexpected add-ons.  However, we cannot accurately quote a price for any DJ without the following minimum booking info:


We need to know:

1. Date of your event  Why? First, we need the date of your event to determine which DJs are still available for you to choose from.  Your event date may affect the DJ’s price because we can offer lower, discounted rates for certain “off-season” times of the year, for non-weekend bookings or for “last minute” bookings that are made within 30 days of the function date.

2. Type of event  Why? Because certain formal functions like weddings, mitzvahs and corporate events require much more advanced planning and preparation than simple, casual parties.  Extra services include developing an event timeline with you using our detailed function info forms and additional planning advice from the agency.  Unlimited pre-event consultation time with your DJ/MC followed by in-depth music research and customized music programming time.  Pre-event contact and coordination of your other vendors (hall function manager, photographer, video, etc) to assure that everyone is on the same page with the timeline and details you have specified on our paperwork. Smooth flowing, flawless functions don't just happen... the more important the event, the more time and effort must be devoted to it in advance by the professionals you entrust with its' success.  A simple, informal party with one brief call from the DJ just to touch base does not require this level of advanced work and preparation time, and therefore, will cost less.

3. Place of your event  Why? Because it costs the DJ more to travel to Cape Cod, Newport RI or Portland, Maine than to perform locally.  A modest surcharge may be quoted to cover the DJ's extra time on the road, gas, tolls, parking costs etc.  Also, certain local venues have unique access challenges like 4 flights of stairs but no elevator, or may require DJ sound systems simultaneously playing in three different locations or do not have a parking lot within 2 blocks of the hotel.  At those times, the hiring of a DJ’s helper is absolutely necessary to accommodate our performing at the hotel or venue selected by the client.  Finally, the size of the venue you select and your number of guests may require a larger than normal sound system to provide adequate coverage and sound quality. Any such extra personnel or sound equipment needed for your event will be determined, explained and quoted in advance.

4. Time of the Event/Length of the DJ performance Why? Because most functions last a minimum of four hours, but some require musical entertainment for many hours longer.  Wedding clients often add an hour of DJ music for their cocktail hour or perhaps they also need an extra hour of DJ music during their on-site ceremony.  Some prefer to add DJ overtime just before the end of the function, to keep the party going longer.  The final price is based on the exact performance time required by the client and the DJ's overtime rate, which is pro-ratable and clearly listed on the DJ’s contract.  Overtime may be added by the client in advance, or as needed at the event.

5. Options you require Why? Because different clients have different needs.  We offer many options that can be added to the DJ's regular quoted rate for your function, if desired.  Commonly requested add-on options include a second DJ system for a ceremony or cocktail hour held in another location at the same venue (a gazebo outside or in an adjoining room or deck etc);  an “enhanced sound system” with extra speakers and amplification for a larger venue or more than 300 guests; the addition of a Karaoke sing-along system with TV monitor; a full DJ light show or a black-light "Glow Show";  a Video Screen for Dance Music Videos; a Game Show podium for "DJ Trivia Show"; a confetti shower; inflatables, props or giveaways; costumes, maracas or glow necklaces.  Options are quoted in advance and may be added by the client even after the original contract has been signed; just call us at least 2 weeks before the event to be sure the option is still available. All unreserved add-on options are subject to availability.

There are all styles and skill levels of DJ entertainers available within our company at different price levels.  A newer DJ with 4 years part-time DJ experience who performs in a more low key, elegant style will generally be much less expensive than a DJ who is a skilled interactive entertainer with 15 years of full-time DJ experience and a proven track record.  Well-known DJs have far greater demand for their services.  Each performer's level of talent is quite different and is priced accordingly.

Please call the agency (we're open 10 am - 5 pm Mon-Fri) to discuss your function plans in detail and we will make a few suggestions regarding the best entertainment available for your date and time. Some clients request our prices by email, without giving us any clue as to their event or their needs.  In other cases, there may be several DJs at different price levels that all seem to fit your plans.  Trying to write out all the subtle differences and reasons for the varied pricing of each DJ is extremely time-consuming by email.  Also, email simply doesn't permit the necessary back and forth dialogue with you to pinpoint the perfect entertainment match for your needs and budget.  For this reason, whenever possible, we prefer an initial telephone consultation.  We’ll ask all the right questions and answer all of yours, ending in our suggesting a great DJ who is perfect for your event and also right for your budget.  Next, at your request, we will place the DJ on hold for up to one week, send you promo material and arrange a personal consultation with that DJ; all without any obligation.
